Tinker Table

Tinker Table

The best ideas are always magpied. This idea came from a Kathy Walker book I read years ago. I have recently seen it in action while visiting a Walker Learning school in Australia. This was all I needed to motivate me to set up our own version when I returned to the UK. I was lucky enough to have a colleague build a bespoke table, any table will do though and it doesn't need to be outside. Add in some hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, nails, off cuts of wood, some donated broken electronics and some safety goggles and there you have it. One awesome Tinker Table. After some basic training on how to use the tools safely, we are now letting the children take the lead. They love taking the electronic equipment apart and they have recently added in some string and felt tips to further extend their creativity.
